Websites for lawyers
We build law-firm websites: practice areas, articles and consultation booking, from €600
A client with a legal problem asks whether you handle it, how it works and how to reach you. Your site answers in plain language, in Romanian and English, within the advertising rules of the bar.
What a law firm's website needs
If you are a lawyer looking for a website, the short answer is this: a law firm needs a page for each practice area, a short profile of each lawyer, useful articles, a way to book a first consultation, and wording that stays within the advertising rules of the Romanian bar. We build law-firm websites from €600 (a one-page card from €150) and add consultation booking from €2,500. When you serve foreign clients, the site runs in Romanian and English. Danube Labs is a one-person studio based in Bucharest. We are not legal advisers: the rules below point to official texts of UNBR, the National Union of Bars of Romania, and your bar decides what is allowed.
What a client needs to see
Someone with a legal problem asks three things: do you handle this kind of case, how does it work, and how do I reach you. So the site needs a page for each practice area in plain language, a profile for each lawyer, the address of the practice and a clear way to make contact. A four-step "how we work" section, as in our law-firm concept, answers the second question before the first call.
What the bar's advertising rules say
The Statute of the legal profession, as amended by UNBR Council Decision no. 195 of 10–11 September 2021, sets the frame. Advertising and public information must be transparent, truthful and correct. They may not be comparative with other professionals, equivocal, ambiguous, misleading or denigrating, and they must refer to the nature and limits of professional obligations. Advertising that breaks the rules is a disciplinary offence. The detail sits in two guides annexed to the statute, one on lawyers' use of online platforms and one of good practices on advertising, and they cover every medium, including a website.
One rule affects the site before anything is written: the domain name. UNBR Council Decision no. 125 of 13–14 December 2024 interprets articles 8.2 and 8.3 of Annex XXXIV on online advertising. As reported in the legal press, generic domains such as "avocatcluj" are not allowed, and the domain should carry the name of the form of practice or its initials. Check the decision on the UNBR site and ask your bar before you register a domain.
Articles that bring clients, within the rules
An article that explains a procedure, a deadline or a common mistake is the most useful content a law site can carry, and it is what people search for. It must stay within the same rules: no promises of results, no comparison with other lawyers, no claim you cannot back. We organise articles by practice area, with a visible date, because law changes and an article about a rule that has changed damages trust.
Booking a first consultation without exposing the case
A booking flow with slots lets the client pick a time, leave a name, phone and email, and get a confirmation and a reminder. Confidentiality between lawyer and client is central to the profession, and a web form is not a confidential channel by default. Ask for the minimum on the public form, tell the client not to describe the case there and keep the discussion for the consultation. The booking engine on this website (Google Calendar, per-visitor time zones, cancel links) is the starting point, and our guide explains how it works.
Bilingual for foreign clients
Foreign individuals and companies often search in English before they look for a Romanian lawyer, so each page exists in both languages, with hreflang tags that tell Google which one to show. The English text must make the same claims as the Romanian one, since the rules apply to both. Name practice areas the way a foreigner would search, such as company incorporation or property purchase in Romania, instead of translating titles word by word. Google explains how to add or claim a Business Profile for the office, which helps with local searches.
Our price guide, how much a website costs in Romania, puts these bands in context. To discuss your practice areas, book a free call.
What we build
The parts of a law-firm site that clients use
Built for a client who is worried, reads fast and needs to know if you are the right person.
Practice-area pages
One page per area: what you handle, the usual steps, what to bring. Structured data for legal services helps search engines read them.
Articles and Q&A
A blog and a questions section by practice area, editable without a developer, with a visible date on every piece.
Consultation booking
Free slots, a confirmation, a reminder and a cancel link, with a minimal public form that does not ask for case details.
Romanian and English
Both versions on every page with hreflang, and the same claims in both, since the advertising rules apply to both.
Wording and domain checked against UNBR texts
We check pages and the domain name against the points in the statute and the interpretative decision. Your bar has the final word.
Fast pages that rank locally
Pages that load fast on mobile, technical SEO and a Google Business Profile that matches the site.
How it works
How a law-firm site gets built
- 1
A call about practice areas and form of practice
We list your practice areas, your form of practice (individual office or partnership), the languages you serve and the domain name options that fit the UNBR decision.
- 2
Structure and texts by the lawyer
You write or approve the legal texts. We structure them, edit for plain language in both languages and flag wording that conflicts with the advertising points.
- 3
Build, booking and form testing
We build the pages and the booking flow, keep the public form minimal and test on phones, including cancellation and a full slot.
- 4
Launch and first articles
On launch day we publish, connect your Google Business Profile and walk you through the admin. Then we agree a short plan for the first articles by practice area.

What a law-firm site costs

Related work
The closest example is our law-firm website, a concept for a Bucharest legal practice, not a real client. It has six practice areas, a four-step process, a blog and a questions section, bilingual routing with localised metadata, and a consultation booking flow. We built it in three weeks, and it scores 97 for Lighthouse performance. This website shows the booking engine in production, on Google Calendar. No real law firm is in our portfolio, and we will not pretend otherwise. Other work is listed in the portfolio.
FAQ
Questions, answered
How much does a website for a lawyer cost?
A one-page card for a lawyer starting out costs €150–350. A law-firm site with practice areas, articles, a content admin, English and Romanian versions and technical SEO costs €600–1,500. A custom-coded site with consultation booking starts at €2,500. The final price depends on scope and is agreed in writing.
What advertising rules must a lawyer's website follow?
The Statute of the legal profession, as amended by UNBR Council Decision 195/2021, requires advertising to be transparent, truthful and correct, and bans comparative, ambiguous, misleading or denigrating content. Two annexed guides give the detail. Breaking the rules is a disciplinary offence, so read the guides and ask your bar.
Can I use a domain like avocatcluj.ro?
According to the legal press, UNBR Council Decision 125/2024 says generic domains made only of terms like "avocat" and a city are not allowed, and the domain should include the name of the form of practice or its initials. Read the decision on the UNBR site and ask your bar before registering.
Can I publish client testimonials or results?
Check with your bar first. The rules require advertising to be truthful and not comparative, and the guides annexed to the statute give the detail for online content. We do not add testimonials, client lists or success figures to a law site unless you confirm they are allowed for your practice.
Can clients book a consultation online?
Yes. Clients pick a free slot, leave a name, phone and email, and get a confirmation, a reminder and a cancel link. We keep the public form minimal and tell clients not to describe the case there, since a web form is not a confidential channel by default. The consultation itself can be a call or a meeting.
Is an English version worth it?
If you serve foreign individuals or companies, yes. They search in English first. Every tier from €600 is bilingual, with hreflang tags so Google shows the right version. The English text must make the same claims as the Romanian one, because the advertising rules apply to both. Name practice areas as a foreigner would search for them.
Can I edit the site and add articles myself?
Yes. From the €600 tier up, a content admin lets you edit pages, add articles and update the questions section in both languages without a developer. We show you how at launch, and the timeline is agreed in writing after the first call.
